Inspired by the ocean, small communities, and east-coast personalities, Gillian’s novels feature settings from her daily life.

Gillian is best known for her Clues of the Coast novels, a fictional series detailing the summer lives of a group of girls growing up on the east coast of Canada. She received a Governor General’s Literary Award for the Clues of the Coast series, as well as the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize.

Gillian writes every day, and is an advocate for literary programs in schools. In her spare time she gardens and runs creative writing workshops for local elementary and high school students.
